it's been awhile...

hey there!

it was almost a year ago that i last posted  on this blog and it hasn't been because i didn't want to, but life happened in a lot of different ways.

i am so happy to be back and i want to say that little by little i will share more on how life happened.
perhaps i will do one of those "what happened when i was gone" post but for now,

let's just hop right into it.
first sunrise of 2013 - great tradition

at the risk of sounding cliche i want to say that this year is truly a new beginning and new chance for me.
sometimes in life, something happens and the baggage gets thrown out, you are finally set free of rubbish
and in the most subtle of ways, a fresh new air of life gets into your lungs.

on january 3rd a new fresh air of hope came alive in me.
as i sat on my dining room table on a weary night, i opened the bible and was blown away.
i opened to the book of joshua and the verse i read, the one that jump at me and screamed was:

"there's still land to conquer"

it took me a second and then it hit me.
there's still land to conquer.

what you may not know is the 2012 was one of the most difficult, yet triumphant years of my life.
with the loss of my father and many other trials at bay, it was a difficult season.
but it was also a season of miracles.
in the midst of trials, mourning, and grief
the lord showed up in my life and showered me with amazing peace.

i became a new woman that day.
a woman who knew a new meaning of worship
a new meaning to what praising at all times really meant
and a person who understood what it truly means to
sing when it rains

when 2013 began i wasn't all that sure what to expect
after all the events of the prior year
but through this tiny verse
the lord not only reassured my soul
but brought me back to that promise of victory
and to the knowledge that although trials and battles may come
i will surely conquer more and more
through him.

and i'm ready.
